The Sigma FP

The release of the new Sigma FP has me very intrigued. It is a 24 megapixel imaging beast packed into a solidly built small modular package. As part of the L Mount Alliance this little camera has access to a wealth of high quality Leica, Sigma and Panasonic L Mount lenses. Through adapters you have access to Leica M Mount glass, Canon Glass and evening Nikon lenses.

My good buddy Brady (JB Camera Designs) has one in house to test and build out a custom JB grip for the little body. I think I am going to rent one to take a peak at. For me, I have two main interests.

First their is an Australia company that has announced a underwater housing for the FP that will use the Nikonos line of wet lenses. These lenses are still considered to be some of the finest underwater glass produced. The combination will allow for a very small underwater imaging setup.

Second, this little camera makes me think of a modular, interchangeable lens Q. The Q is an amazing camera that I take everywhere. The concept of a small interchangeable lens version that I can use with M glass is super exciting.

If you have taken a look at this camera I would love to hear your thoughts. Details to follow after I get one in to test.
