Ok, first off, just like with great glass from anyone, this lens, well, it is expensive. Not only is it expensive, but it is massive. Massive on the scale of the dreamy 105/2 lens that to date, was my favorite all time lens from Nikon. Seriously, this lens is big and heavy and did I mention, only manually focused.

Tonight, I got to shoot some portraits for my buddy Adam for his new Astro Book coming out soon. I shot the first set of images with the Z 85, a lens that I think is pretty darn good, but then, Adam offered up the Noct. For the rest of the shoot, I used this lens and could tell from the moment I started focusing it, that it was special. Not just kind of special, but really special. The build quality is sublime but the real deal is when you look at the images.

They are just sublime. A beautiful painterly rendering that is reminicent of my Leica glass, especially the new SL lenses which I believe are some of the finest lenses made by Leica to date. Below are some quick takes from the shoot, but needless to say, i thought about running away from Adam with this lens still attached to my Z7, never to be seen again. Truly a special piece of glass.
